Yes. The Irish security industry is regulated by the Private Security Authority (PSA), and all static security guards and personnel performing security functions must hold a valid PSA licence.
To obtain this, you’ll need to complete the Basic Guarding Skills Training Course (QQI Level 4). This qualification is a legal requirement for anyone applying for a Basic Guarding Licence with the PSA.

There are several approved training providers in Ireland offering the QQI Level 4 Basic Guarding Skills Course required to work as a licensed Static Security Guard.
At Securitas Ireland, we now offer a fully funded QQI Level 4 Static Guarding Skills Training Course (4N1118) to help new entrants gain their PSA licence and begin a rewarding career in security.

Security Officers may be required to work day, night, and weekend shifts as part of their roster.

This depends on the site and client contract. Some locations require a single security officer, while others have larger security teams with defined roles and responsibilities for each member.
