Data centers

Data centres have stringent safety and security requirements related to the protection of their assets and their reputation, to the execution of policies and procedures, and to regulatory compliance. To achieve the right level of security, we help our data center clients identify the internal and external threats.

Our company provides specialized data center security solutions to clients of all sizes, from small server rooms to hyperscale centers. We combine human expertise and advanced technologies to protect our clients' operations and reputations.

Specialist manpower

Our Data Centre security officers are trained to detect and deter threats to the building, staff, equipment, and integrity of the data itself. These officers all complete our Certified Data Centre Security Professional Course, a bespoke training programme that ensures a holistic understanding of the unique demands of Data Centre safety management. Our trained officers are alert to threats of every kind, including data tampering or theft, and potential hazards such as floods, fires, or overheated servers.

Tailored Made Solutions:

Securitas offers a range of specialist services that are tailored to the specific needs of each data center. These services include:

  • Remote video surveillance: Securitas can provide real-time remote surveillance of the data center environment, both internally and externally. This can help to deter intruders and identify any suspicious activity.
  • Alarm monitoring and response: Securitas' Operations Centre monitors alarms 24/7 and can dispatch a response team to the data center in the event of an incident.
  • Access control: Securitas can provide access control solutions for the data center, including physical security measures such as perimeter security and access gates, as well as electronic security measures such as key cards and biometric scanners.
  • Risk assessment and planning: Securitas can conduct risk assessments and develop security plans for data centers, taking into account the specific threats and vulnerabilities of each facility.

By combining specialist manpower with advanced technologies, Securitas is able to provide a comprehensive security solution that meets the unique needs of data centers of all sizes.

High-tech electronic security systems

Securitas uses state-of-the-art equipment and back-office expertise to provide real-time remote surveillance and response across the data centre environment via a range of technologies, including remote video surveillance (both internal and external/perimeter).

Remote video surveillance is a key component of Securitas' high-tech electronic security systems for data centers. It allows Securitas to monitor the data center environment 24/7 from a remote location. This means that Securitas can quickly identify and respond to any suspicious activity, such as intruders or unauthorized access.

Securitas uses a variety of remote video surveillance technologies, including:

  • High-definition cameras with night vision and motion detection capabilities
  • Thermal cameras that can detect people and objects in low-light or no-light conditions
  • Artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze video footage and identify potential threats
  • Securitas also offers a range of other high-tech electronic security systems for data centers, including:
  • Access control systems that restrict access to the data center to authorized personnel
  • Perimeter security systems that detect and deter intruders from entering the data center property
  • Intrusion detection systems that detect unauthorized entry into the data center building or server rooms
  • Fire detection and suppression systems that detect and extinguish fires in the data centre.

Cyber security services

The Securitas Risk Intelligence Center (RIC) extends the reach of our Data Centre security expertise beyond the physical to the world of cyber security. Our experienced intelligence officers use a global network of open sources (OSINT), social media (SOCMINT) and closed sources (including private sector intelligence, military, policing and academia) to provide early warning of cyber activity that might pose a threat to the data centre.

The RIC monitors a wide range of cyber threats, including:

  • Advanced persistent threats (APTs): APTs are sophisticated cyber attacks that are typically carried out by state-sponsored actors or organized crime groups. APTs can be very difficult to detect and remove, and they can have a devastating impact on data centers.
  • Ransomware: Ransomware is a type of malware that encrypts a victim's data and demands a ransom payment in exchange for the decryption key. Ransomware attacks have become increasingly common in recent years, and they can be particularly costly for data centers, which often store large amounts of valuable data.
  • Denial-of-service (DoS) attacks: DoS attacks are designed to overwhelm a website or server with traffic, making it unavailable to legitimate users. DoS attacks can be very disruptive for data centers, which need to be able to operate reliably 24/7.

The RIC also monitors cyber threats that are specific to data centers, such as attacks on critical infrastructure or attacks on specific software vulnerabilities.

The RIC provides its clients with a variety of cyber security services, including:

  • Threat intelligence reports: The RIC provides its clients with regular threat intelligence reports that highlight the latest cyber threats and how they can mitigate them.
  • Vulnerability assessments: The RIC can conduct vulnerability assessments of the client's data center environment to identify any potential security weaknesses.
  • Penetration testing: The RIC can conduct penetration tests of the client's data center environment to simulate real-world cyber attacks and identify any security gaps.
  • Incident response: The RIC can assist its clients in responding to cyber incidents, such as data breaches or ransomware attacks.
