Security landscape in review
“There is no little enemy” as the French proverb says, meaning it’s wise to recognize any potential threat, however distant or insignificant it might seem. In 2023, it’s something that businesses across Europe have felt keenly. In this review we draw on data from our Risk Intelligence Center (RIC) to summarize the ten macro threats during 2023. We then use analysis of risk assessment data to look at the five day-to-day threats keeping business owners awake at night. The report also explores how physical and smart security solutions – including digital CCTV camera networks, remote monitoring, and analytics – are evolving to provide businesses a new era of comprehensive, efficient protection.
Top 10 macro risks as revealed by the Securitas Risk Intelligence Center (RIC)
In this review we draw on data from our Risk Intelligence Center (RIC) to summarize the ten macro threats during 2023. We then look more closely at the threats our clients are most concerned with mitigating.
The RIC applies years of expertise and insight to combine intelligence with our understanding of security operations, geographies, and other relevant factors. The result is advanced, real-time analysis that enables businesses to adapt swiftly to a constantly changing environment, staying ahead of market trends, technological advances, and client demands.

Using analysis of risk assessment data gathered through the Securitas Solutions Tool (SST), we also look at the five key threats closer to home, the localized security issues experienced by a variety of industry sectors across Europe. These are the day-today threats that keep business owners awake at night, and arguably the ones they can do most to protect themselves against.
Key trends in business security concerns and solutions during 2023
Throughout this retrospective of 2023, we consider how physical and smart security solutions – including digital CCTV camera networks, remote monitoring, and analytics – are converging and evolving to provide businesses a new era of comprehensive, efficient protection.
Murat Kösereisoğlu, Securitas Country President for Türkiye, shares his perspective on some of the key trends in security concerns and solutions during 2023.
Fredrik Ahlqvist, Head of Commercial and Solutions at Securitas, Sweden, gives us his perspective on the key security trends in 2023 and the growth in businesses using technology to enhance their security.
We've seen a growth in demand for integrated security solutions that rely less on people and more on technology, for example, in the form of video surveillance with remote monitoring supported by mobile patrols.
More businesses have been looking for a security partnership, so we're increasingly providing consultancy services - such as risk analysis - as well as people and solutions.
